To keep its clients engaged, the RiverPlex evolves to ensure that innovation is at the forefront of everything it does. How does the facility meet its clients’ needs while keeping them engaged during their workouts and motivated to stick with it? In the last year alone, it has added three new technologies that do just that.

  1. Wearable technology. The RiverPlex has introduced a heart rate monitoring system in several areas of the facility to ensure workouts are doing exactly what they are intended to do. The heart rate is displayed in the workout studio for monitoring during workouts, and data results are sent via email upon workout completion.
  2. Virtual workouts. The RiverPlex offers virtual workouts in two of its studios, which allows for individual flexibility to take classes and offers a non-intimidating way to break into the world of in-person group exercise classes.
  3. 3D body scanning. The RiverPlex offers 3D body scanning with a cutting-edge Styku machine. It scans the body in 30 to 45 seconds and provides measurements (within 2mm accuracy) across all areas of the body. It’s a painless, easy way to see what areas of the body are improving—even in the smallest amounts.

RiverPlex tours are available Mondays through Thursdays (8am-7pm), Fridays (8am-5pm) and Saturdays (9am-12pm)—stop by and take advantage of the “No Initiation Fee” special through Jan 31st.

The RiverPlex Recreation & Wellness Center is a facility of the Peoria Park District, whose mission is to contribute to a healthy and vibrant Peoria community by responsibly using its resources to offer high-quality parks and recreation experiences to those who live, work and play in the District. iBi
