As a senior reliability analyst at Caterpillar Inc., Paroma Banerjee manages a portfolio of data analytics projects focused on reducing engine warranty costs and improving engine reliability. She is responsible for analyzing and reporting reliability and warranty data for the Industrial Power Systems Division, including Caterpillar and Perkins-branded engines. By using data to visualize areas of opportunity and predict future warranty costs, she has increased efficiencies, reduced corporate expenses and provided a better customer experience.

For the last two years, Banerjee has served as global vice chair of community service for the Caterpillar Asian Indian Community resource group, leading committee chairs from five city chapters focused on engaging local nonprofits throughout the country. She also recruits for Caterpillar at job fairs and provides tech talks at her alma mater, Purdue University.

An active member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Central Illinois Section since 2009, Banerjee is currently president and has chaired multiple committees during her tenure. As communications chair, her work earned the section a Society-level communications award for its new blog, website and newsletter. She also increased its social media presence and improved branding for all communications.

While heading the outreach committee, she led multiple volunteering events and began collaboration with the National Society of Black Engineers, co-hosting the Young Minds for Engineering luncheon, for which she continues to volunteer.

A board member of The Center for Prevention of Abuse since 2014, Banerjee has led increasingly successful fundraisers for The Center, including the recent Experience India event, which raised awareness about Indian culture and The Center’s work. She also volunteers regularly with Rebuilding Together, WTVP and the Heart of Illinois United Way, and has served as an Adopt-a-School mentor at Lindbergh Middle School for years, allowing students to job-shadow her at Caterpillar.

Among other honors, Banerjee has earned the SWE Central Illinois Section’s Distinguished Member Award, SWE Communications Award and Caterpillar’s Annual Quality Improvement Award. She is also a talented artist who enjoys printmaking, traveling, hiking with her family, dancing and reading. iBi
