As lead communicator for Caterpillar’s Global Power Solutions Division, Jeff Muniz provides communications consultation for the division’s vice president and leadership team and oversees key communications strategies for more than 6,000 employees and facilities worldwide. Prior to joining Caterpillar, he served as company spokesperson for COUNTRY Financial and was the lead weekend anchor at WEEK-TV from 2001 to 2010, among other duties. He was also the station’s first meteorologist to earn seals of approval from both the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association.

Muniz has served on the Morton Community Foundation Board of Directors for four years and is now entering his first year as board president. Since he became Communications Committee chair in 2016, the foundation has grown from $3 million to over $5 million in endowed funds. He currently serves on the Church Council and the Lead Sound Ministry Team at Bethel Lutheran Church, and previously served on the Communications Committee, working on a campaign that successfully reduced church debt. He also helped lead the Bethel Impact Day of community service.

For nearly a decade, Muniz has served as head coach for teams in the Morton Girls Softball Association, and he has coached in the Upwards Basketball program for two years. He was previously vice president of the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists Peoria chapter, representing WEEK and WHOI newsroom employees, and has volunteered for Peoria’s Race for the Cure, the United Way Day of Caring, the Morton Pumpkin Festival and the McLean County Back to School Party.

In addition to garnering numerous journalism awards over the years, he was recognized by the United Way of McLean County in 2013 for his significant impact on their annual campaign, and he received the 2015 Innovator Award from the Caterpillar Electric Power Division for his engaging style of communication. He has also received two COUNTRY Spotlight Awards for employee excellence, as well as WEEK-TV’s “Houli” (Bill Houlihan) Award for Employee of the Month. iBi
