Benjamin Brewer is director of specialty clinics at UnityPoint Health, overseeing all aspects of the health system’s specialty clinics. Among his career accomplishments, he led the implementation of a Tele-ICU program for UnityPoint—the first of its kind in the health system. In previous positions, he helped establish an accredited paramedic program at Advanced Medical Transport (AMT) and was responsible for the implementation, management and strategic growth of an outpatient Wound Care Center with Graham Health System at Mason District Hospital—a program that was able to turn a profit four years ahead of projections. He is also an emergency medical services instructor at Western Illinois University.

Brewer’s community leadership encompasses numerous boards and a range of capacities. He chairs the advisory board of The Salvation Army’s Canton chapter and is secretary of the Canton Municipal Police Pension board, serves on the American College of Healthcare Executives Education Committee and the Canton Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and is a volunteer deputy coroner for the Fulton County Coroner's Office. He was the Lewistown Fire Department’s EMS Coordinator for 10 years, and is a former alderman, finance chair and water chair for the Lewistown City Council. He has also served on the Peoria Promise Board of Directors and with the United Way Pacemaker Campaign at AMT.

Among his honors and awards, Brewer was named the 2009 Paramedic of the Year by the Fulton County Emergency Medical Association and 2008 EMT of the Year by the Lewistown Fire Department. A Fellow Designee by the American Colleges of Healthcare Executives, he is a certified CPR instructor, BLS instructor, Advanced Cardiac Support instructor, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructor, and has been an active paramedic for AMT and the Morton Fire Department since 2008. An avid runner, he also serves on the Illinois Valley Striders board and has completed more than 300 races, including 5Ks, 10Ks and half-marathons. iBi
